Description
Exemplary Workflow – Potable and Waste Water Design with AutoCAD
Step 1: 2D Design and Scheme Design
Even complex and hygienically challenging potable water installations, for example with looped-through pipes or inliner circulation and from drainage requests with automatic labeling of the height levels according to the set slope up to detailed three-dimensional front-wall design, can be easily implemented thanks to the liNear toolbars, routing commands, connection functions for rigid and flexible pipes, automatic legends, slot design assistants and much more. Draw systems that can be calculated directly, regardless of the display type. Make use of fast, clean and perfect documentation and optionally create even a 3D model (in combination with 3D Design Pipe&Power).
Step 2: Pipe Network Calculations
Potable water is a vital foodstuff and thus requires particular attention. Installations, which transport such potable water to the tapping points, are for reasons of hygiene not just subject to considerably higher requirements since the amendment of the potable water ordinance DIN 1988-300. These requirements concern tapping times, cooling or heating at non operating times, disinfection, and many more. With liNear Analyse Potable Water including the calculation of circulation according to DIN 1988-300/200, water supply systems are dimensioned optimally and safely in view of the hygienic quality of the potable water. With liNear Analyse Waste Water, gravity drainage systems for sewage water and rain water within buildings are calculated and dimensioned. Drawn slopes are checked and, optionally, the minimum slopes are used according to standard. All pipe types (ground pipes, connection pipes, venting of all kinds, etc.) are set by the program on the basis of the connection situation displayed in the drawing: The program detects the ventilation type based on the drawn pipe run. Moreover, all application limits, maximum lengths and maximum number of bends are checked as well as the maximum drop height. The results can be checked visually directly in the model. Redimension the pipe network on the basis of the calculation and thus obtain an optimized waste water system.
Step 3: 3D Design
This is pipe design that leaves nothing to be desired featuring an easy-to-learn operating concept that makes a difference. Build your three-dimensional and realistic systems in no time. You may switch on real-time checking, which prevents already during construction pipes and components from contacting each other. You can either design directly in 3D or automatically create a 3D pipe network using the calculated single-line pipe network following the pipe network calculation. The correct fittings and joining pieces are selected automatically during construction via the liNear Material Manager. Easily replace 2D symbols with 3D valves from manufacturer component catalogs and get a complete 3D model. Of course the model remains calculable in every design stage. It is also possible to recalculate the model after changes at any time.
Step 4: Labeling and Transfer of Results
Write the results of your design work directly into the model. With the automatic labels, you will do this in a quick and easy way. You can define and reuse labels globally, per component group or for individual elements. It is also possible to add your own parameters, which can be included in the labels. All results such as the bill of quantities or the results of the pipe network calculation are offered in different formats. All information is saved directly in the model. The final MEP model can optionally be provided for the BIM process via an IFC interface.
