Exemplary Workflow – Ventilation Design with AutoCAD
Step 1: 2D Design and Scheme Design
For ventilation and air conditioning systems in hospitals, administrative buildings or for industrial use: With the liNear toolbars, routing commands, connection functions, automatic legends, slot design assistants and much more, you can draw calculable systems. Make use of fast, clean and perfect documentation with the option of an automatically created 3D model. The supplied manufacturer libraries allow you to design with objects that are actually available. You have the choice between our liNear Configurator or the device configurators of our industry partners in order to create the central air handling units.
Step 2: Duct Network Calculation
Within the duct network calculation, you not only determine the optimal dimensions of the system with the help of a powerful pressure loss calculation including balancing. In addition, the system is also analyzed in terms of acoustic aspects. All results can also be visually checked with liNear Data Coloring and further optimized. With the calculation you also consider complex systems, for example with several installations in one project. All results are saved directly to the components and exported during transfer. An eKlimax interface enables the production of all ducts and fittings based on your design work.
Step 3: 3D Design
Air duct systems require space, which is why 3D design is an obvious option, especially for ventilation systems, in the early design stages. With liNear Design 3D Ventilation you may build your three-dimensional and realistic systems in no time. With a depth of detail that can be used for prefabrication. Collision checks are particularly indispensable when alignment with other trades is performed. They are carried out permanently during the design phase. The program analyzes exactly where collisions might occur in the system and marks them in the model. You may derive all views and intersections from one and the same model. With any modification all remains synchronized. This means precision and productivity in one step!
Step 4: Labeling and Transfer of Results
Write the results of your design work directly into the model. With the automatic labels, you will do this in a quick and easy way. You can define and reuse labels globally, per component group or for individual elements. It is also possible to add your own parameters, which can be included in the labels. All results such as the bill of quantities, the results of the duct network calculation or the sound level calculation are offered in different formats. All information is saved directly in the model. The final MEP model is provided for the BIM process. The IFC format is also available as an option.
